FAME (BEE) is a short piece for voice, piano, and electronics, commissioned by DOG Trio in Hamburg. Built around a brief poem by Emily Dickinson, the work treats all three parts as equal voices. Sine tones and electronic textures are transmitted onto piano strings via transducers, while the pianist uses subtle pedaling to shape both acoustic and electronic resonance—described by the performer as “driving a car with a reverb pedal.” The voice moves fluidly between different modes of delivery, blending with the decaying piano tones. The piece unfolds like an origami figure: made of one material, but constantly shifting in shape and perspective.
